the text is written more like an advertisement rather than an informative history book

As you go towards the end of the book, the text is written more like an advertisement rather than an informative history book. The language grows ambiguous and sometimes omits some of the obvious questions like who, what, how or why. When the author does throw in facts, they seem spontaneous and most of the time, insignificant. The author does try to make this more like a narrative (as it should be), but does moderate job as some of his thoughts in the text do not line up; his narrative eventually becomes confusing. If anything, read a little more than the first half (maybe get the first volume). The later half is just a waste of precious time, so just get a different history book.

This book was very insightful and helpful although it was condensed it provided a great over view and easy reading for a summer class.

Nice Textbook

I had to get this for a college history class. The few times I read it, it was pretty readable and didn't bore me to death like many other reading material. Overall, it's okay
